Linux gaining popularity.

Theres a state called Kerala in India.

The government of kerala had passed an IT policy.
The policy states that , only free softwares must be used in all the government schools and government organisations.This was to eliminate proprietary software usage.

Now all the govt schools and offices have ubuntu installed in thier pc.

Before all the schools and offices used microsoft.Its a huge loss to microsoft(in that state).Now the whole of that state government related institutions use ubuntu.

Now its a great profit to the govenment since they are not using proprietary software.That profit is used for further development of state.

There are many organisations(non profit ,welfare focussed) which promote opens source softwares a lot.
linux desktop users are increasing at a fast pace.How ever linux rocks at the server side.

Lets hope there will be a day where the whole world is dominated by open source software.

The world shouldn't be dominated by anything or anyone. Let's just hope there will be a day when free software will dominate the software world.

Dominance is the problem. Software libre (Software "freedom") is the desired goal. Users should be permitted the "freedom" to choose what software, whether Open Source (which can be both 'free' and 'for a cost') or proprietary. To advocate one over the other isn't freedom at all.
