/tmp is wiped at reboot automatically. Are you seeing something different? What version are you using?
What exactly are you looking to do?
I have 16GB or RAM so on my system I have tmpfs in RAM so it's even cleared at a crash. There is some cache files in /var/tmp that hang around for awhile.
