Booting Kubuntu to recover Win ?

Trying to recover some data off a screwed up XP drive.
Can I boot off a Kubuntu 18.04 dvd and get data off a screwed up XP hard drive that won't boot?
Would I be able to see the files and programs and such on the XP hard drive?
