Hi guys. I'm back with yet another query. I'll begin. I have a 1tb ssd but I'm almost out of space. So i purchased an 2tb Nvme drive. I'm aware i can use clonezilla or DD to duplicate the drive. My question is after cloning can i resize the new partition so i can use all 2tb of the nvme?

Yes, most certainly.
Clonezilla can iirc use all the space if using custom settings, or use the same size as the source ( the default I believe), while dd will make it the same size no matter what.
So, you'll more likely just need to create a new partition in the empty space. In any case, KDE Partition Manager or Gparted can resize things just fine, though you'll need to do that from a live USB.
Edit: I posted to quickly. See jlittle's post below.Last edited by claydoh; Nov 21, 2024, 02:53 PM.

Your PC has two, at least, NVMe slots? Many only have one.
If you do clone the drive, mind that having both in a system at boot may cause confusion, both in the OS and in the chair, as both drives have the same UUIDs.Regards, John Little

Thanks everyone! I took your advice on board and proceeded with the clone, as you rightly suggested it worked just fine. Big shout out to the clonezilla developers for an outstanding piece of software and for all you guys on this forum for helping a newbie out. Thanks guys!
