Cannot mount external drive in Dolphin

I use a 2TB USB external drive as my main drive due to lack of space on my main computer. It won't mount in Dolphin. It works fine in Mint 21 and Ubuntu 24.04. The same happened before I upgraded from 23.10 to current 24.04

Error message: An error occurred while accessing '2TB USB Drv', the system responded: The requested operation has failed: Error mounting /dev/sdc1 at /media/brian/2TB USB Drv: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error

    Any advice?

What format is the drive? What is the output from "sudo dmesg" in Konsole?

ntfs-3g should be installed automatically in Kubuntu 24.04 LTS, shouldn't it?
