Nice effect - Rounded corners

KDE Plasma 6.1 will get corners with a slightly increased radius anyhow…

The thing with rounded corners is: you have to be very careful to not exaggeratedly round them - otherwise it will start to look silly (like GNOME, a system for a tablet or a system for kids) and the practicability decreases, because you can display less information within the same space than with no rounded corners for no real reason…
Form should follow function as real designers have taught me.

In the screenshot you posted the rounded corners are decently and practicably designed, though!
Many others themes use (exaggeratedly) rounded corners without taking the possible disadvantages this can cause into account at all.

I thought so too. That screenshot is magnified as well. The effect is very subtle. Interesting to hear that 6.1 will have it built-in. I'm looking forward to a fresh install come August...

My Plasma style is old, so as much as I do like a rounded and floating panel, I get this :

Plus the panel de-floats if something is too close to it.
Otherwise, I have used this cool effect for windows in the past.

On my Plasma 6 laptop, I have only just now changed the wallpaper and Style since I got the Chromebook and put Plasma on it a month ago.I need to find or modify something that might look better here.

I have to use Fedora atm, as I do need sound and other support, and the Chrultrabook peeps are rather anti-Ubuntu, and I didn't want to take the time to figure out what they do specifically for sound/firmware/etc and discover exactly what Ubuntu 22.04 would need for it, as it isn'tr just the right packages and versions -- they support Debian 12 oddly enough, though it requires a custom built kernel, so neon with a 24.04 base will probably be easy enough. But enough of that.
I am playfully miffed that niccolove decided that auto-defloating is the proper and only way to go here.

I can understand that. Although I like this behaviour for some use cases (I also use it for my top panels in Latte Dock) I would have liked that somebody more experienced and open-minded and less convinced of himself would have taken over the development of the Plasma Panels…
He once said that he would introduce intense transparency by default for everything in Plasma (if he could - luckily he can not) and this clearly shows that he hardly understands about practical GUI design.

I honestly don't know if this can help you with your theming, but Panel Colorizer can do several things with Plasma 6 Panels.
