    New distro called Cubuntu

There is a new distro called Cubuntu. Asking for confusion.

Not sure why someone would create an edition of Ubuntu with Mate and Cinnamon as there is already a Mate edition https://ubuntu-mate.org/

Also, I think it's a waste of time mentioning this distro on Kubuntu forums as everyone here prefers not to use GTK based desktop environments. Kubuntu users don't even care for Trinity DE (KDE3) It's Plasma4 or 5 and nothing else.

I agree, but I was thinking of the problems and confusion that will be caused by the name, as it's (presumably) pronounced the same as Kubuntu.

Lol we are free to talk about other distros just fine, there is even a section for it

As to KDE 3 and Trinity, well .... in the past, trinity was a kludgy, buggy, hacky-hacked unstable mess of a DE . I myself hate mentioning KDE3 and Trinity in the same sentence, that is how bad I found it. Others are perfectly free to do so.

KDE 3 is from 2008, that is why no one mentions it anymore. Trinity probably doesn't get mentioned due to lack of users - and there are still plenty of KDE3 fans out there, so that may tell you something.

disclaimer: I say this as someone who still occasionally boots up the latest Haiku release..............

You should try the latest Trinity DE R14.0.2 stable on my two laptops (32 and 64 bit). More stable than Plasma 5 (well version 5.2)

now now ,,,,,do not try to speak for every one .

I loved kde3 back in the day ,,,,,,,,and as claydoh mentioned Trinity was a mess ,,,,,,but I have not tried it in a wile

as to GTK apps,,,,,,,I prefer KDE apps on a KDE system but if a GTK one is kneaded to do the job ,,,it gets installed without a second thought .

at the moment I have Ubuntu 2Kubuntu's a Debian and Netrunner on this box ,,,, I like slackware , Arch , fedora ,,,,,,,,,,,,

DE's Gnome , fluxbox , Ldxe and of course KDE

I'd guess it's pronounced "subuntu" (as in cinnamon...that's probably where the c comes from)

                    "ess-ubuntu" or "sue-buntu" ?? Both dumb IMO.

I would prefer "cin-buntu", (pun intended) lol...

Maybe, but I gave up on them some time ago, for various reasons.

My plasma 5s are stable and solid, solid and I don't have any disappearing app Windows

                      Plus I like lxqt.

Still using plasma4. Auditioned gnome, unity, cinnamon, and mate. They all failed to do what I wanted. LXDE and XFCE usable in a pinch, but not preferred

Cinnamon + Mate + Ubuntu = Cmbuntu if Im not mistaken. Rolls right off the tongue.
