    Wine maybe?

I have an HP 5610 All-in-One device (scanner, copier, etc.). The scanner software runs under Windows 98. Does anyone know if I can get that software to run under Wine? Thanks for your help.

you should not need to use "wine" at all ,,,,,,,,once you add the printer to system settings>printers and make sure you have the "hplip-gui" package installed ,,,,+ any "sane" , xsane packages it should just work.

My system contains HPLIP. I will install the printer & software, and I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks for your help.

I have an HP Deskjet F4100 series all-in-one, and it runs just fine with the tools Kubuntu provides. I've never even thought about using wine for it.

Vinny, HPLIP is installed on my computer. I installed the all-in-one device [HP OfficeJet 5610]. Now I need software that controls the scanner. I don’t know if HPLIP provides the software or if that is SANE’s function.

I have learned the following about HPLIP and SANE: (1) HPLIP supports the HP OfficeJet 5610 (my device), (2) the current version of SANE does not support it, (3) the SANE development (git) version does not support it, and (4) HPOJ [which my device is] is "not maintained anymore. It's recommended to use the hpaio (hplip) backend instead of hpoj”, whatever that means.

Some guidance at this point will be greatly appreciated. What must I do now re the scanner software?

Please ignore this post. I decided to start a new thread.

Soonafter starting this thread, I had HPLIP running on my computer. Ihave been using Simple Scan to
accessmy HP 5610 all-in-1 unit’s scanning function. I also have tried 2other scanning programs, 1 furnished by HPLIP.

TheWindows 98 software that came with my 5610 unit enabled me to scanmultiple pages into a multi-page PDF file, but none of the scanningsoftware I have tried thru Kubuntuand HPLIPenables me to produce such a PDF file. Does anyone know whether suchscanning software is available to run with HPLIP?

Since you have hplip installed it includes the hp-scan terminal command
              hp-scan --adf

              hp-scan manual is here

              Here is some other info
