College Blackboard on Linux and testing CentOS / Moodle

    This is just soooo cool!!!

Blackboard at the college is now on top of Linux.

Annnnnd it is now a relational database and not flat file. Apparently buying out the competition a few years allowed them to incorporate that.

Apparently the complete "migration" was done a few years ago.

There is now a full time Linux person employed by the college just to maintain it,

STEVE RILEY; or any OTHER really smart person of course, .....please correct the "order" of this if I did not get it written down correctly it was a verbal communication.

Blackboard on top of Apache on top of Tomcat on top of an Oracle database. And all Linux!!

This is all Red Hat Enterprise.

There is a "load balancer" that is Linux Barracuda.

    But now even MORE sweetness!

Get this..........they are using CentOS for "testing"....

    --------- MOODLE !!!! :0

I knew that the college has always kept seperate server farms for the "desktops" and "Blackboard" to minimize the possiblity of a hack into Blackboard, where the really important stuff is, like grades.

The other server farm is NTFS for Windblows, the desktops that everybody uses.

The firewall for both farms is Barracuda, Linux

It would be just tres kewl if we went to Moodle!!!

This is, indeed, exciting news for the old woodsmoker.

If anyone has commentary or wishes to correct the order of the "stack" sentence above please provide it!
