different panels per desktop

I am working with different desktops and each one has two panels, one for all standard apps which are needed over the whole system and one grouped with my working apps.

It would be great, if these apps could be attributed to each panel differently. So on the Desktop «Internet» I start Firefox, Thunderbird, Filezilla, GoogleEarth, etc. These starters are not used on, say, the Desktop Graphic. There as starters like Gimp, Hugin, Digikam, etc.

I have asked the question on the KDE-Forum where I was told the best way is to start a topic in the Brainstorm-Section. Have you explored KDE's Activities yet? They would seem to get you close to where you want to go, since individual instances of applications as well as individual files can be attributed to an Activity. Also, there are many launchers that you can use to customize what applications would show on a given Activity (which you can think of as a distinct desktop). The main launcher (bottom left corner of most set-ups) would of course have the global application list, but your custom launcher (be it Lancelot, Daisy, etc) can hold only the ones you've assigned.

You can also have different program icons on each desktop and use plasma dashboard to have quick access to them.

As far as I remember (because I don't use it) you can make several applications start automatically when you activate an activity.

Hi Thanks. I hope, it is well understood, that I do not like starters on the pictures, just in the panels.

Can someone please direct me to a place where I can learn about the Activities and those mentioned Lancelots and Daisies? (Why not L & Guinevere? :lol

And I do not really like to start apps automtically. Each session can be quite different to a non-existant «standard». However, I am open to good arguments to do this automatism ...

It is rather a matter of personal preference and what apps you use and in what way. If you use the same set of apps every day for particular activity, like photo editing, management it might be useful though. It really depends on you.
