I am just not a "first person shooter" / flight sim / etc. person. Mainly because....
I AM NOT COORDINATED ENOUGH to even SURVIVE let alone win!
However, back when I had my game machine with a Windblows and Linux hard drives dedicated to games I purchased new an Xbox30 game pad.
I tried it with.... lol.........what I thought would be my favourite game!!
AND I COULD NOT EVEN GET PAST THE "fog" cave passage! lol
And with:
I could not even get past the "first bridge"...lol....
But, I did purchase the above mentioned pad....
NOW WHY AM I GETTING INTO THIS NOW you might ask?
Um...I'm 70 years old and think that it would be a good exercise for:
a) my hands to avoid getting arthritic
b) mental exercise
So.....to the point.....
This thing has no less than 16 set up tests for 8 "axis" (sic) and I cannot seem to get them to set up correctly.
The "old" way of setting them up a few years ago actually showed "sliders" in addition to the "xy axis box with track" that let one know just which dingus was doing what but not anymore...and also there were bit so many sophisticated options then ( which is a GOOD thing for today).
I assume because people who play games are "just aware of all this" and it comes naturally.
It took a bunch of looking around to find this site:
http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php?ti...x360Controller
Which has a lot of very nice TECHNICAL INFORMATION!!
NOT what I needed...I was thinking....
but at the bottom, in typical "elegant / linux " fashion........there are actual.............PICTURES of the setup of the "axis"(sic)" for windblows, mac and Linux.
I herewith append the image:
The device is actually found, as I said, didn't even need a restart.
Anybody actually USE this thing with Kubuntu/Ubuntu/Linux?
THE QUESTION:
Axis 1, 2, 3 are buttons but want one to move them left / right and up / down for calibration.
And I can't seem to get a simple game like gl-117 to properly function.
Anybody have any salient comments?
