    Emulators on 9.04

    Hi,
I've recently returned to Linux and am having trouble finding some working emulators. I've tried dgen, pcsx and psx and i am having no luck. All the how to's i find seem to be out dated and I'm not even sure if the packages I'm downloading are still maintained. Basically all I'm after is a recent How-To.

Just in case anyone wants to know i am running kubuntu 9.04, amd64, have nvidia card with drivers installed (so much easier now then a couple of years ago).

You're looking for an emulator that will allow you to do specifically what?

    Maybe: pcsx-df plugins (Playstation Emulator)
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

      pSX emulator for Playstation.

      DOSBox for DOS programs.

      VICE for emulating Commodore computers.

KEGS for emulating Apple II computers.

      FCEUX for NES.

Sometimes the latest version is not in the Ubuntu repos. You may need to download a binary or compile from source to get the latest.

To tell you the truth, I cannot get most of these to work. Setting up DOSBox, which I have done on numerous occasions on windows, is a PITA in ubuntu and it still does not work. Likewise with znes, epsxe, etc. The only emulator I found to work is scummvm (Lucasarts games). Then again, I have an ATI card, which is notorious for glitches in general for linux. So, I pretty much gave up on linux as a gaming platform. THen again, I do not really play games all that often, just five to ten minutes here and there whenever the mood strikes.

That's a shame. I have used all of them in Kubuntu just fine.
