Chromium - excelent 15 minutes de-stresser, very hard to finish
Wormux - Linux version of game Worms
Lbreakout2 - Ultra turbo version of the old Arkanoid

Mahjongg. The Gnome version, not KDE. My best time with the "Difficult" board is 1 min 42 secs. Not bad for an old man.

battle of westnod, tried it just to see if this old machine could play it(compaq presario 1200 ex windows98, 6gb, 256ram) but I really liked it and went on to the end so if you are trying not to play games avoid this one as it is too addictive by half, and guess what I am going to do after this post?

I'd have to say Battle of Wesnoth. Been playing that game for over two years (on Windows at first), and I'm still playing it now. It's come a long way. Other than that I play Mahjongg (though mostly at kurnik.org) and all sorts of card and puzzle games. I'll also pick up Unreal Tournament 2008 for Linux when it comes out next month.

Crack Attack - Tetris like game based on the Super Nintendo classic Tetris Attack. Both fun and addicting. This game has both sound and music, but it doesn't come in the package available in Kubuntu. I think I got it from another distribution.

Brutal Chess - Nice looking 3d chess game with decent AI.

TORCS - good 3D animation racing
Spertuxcart - nice game. addictive and simple
Battle of Wesnoth - role playing which I like eventhough I'm still in the tutorial fase
