I get my voice mail sent to my email as an mp3 attachment. This is great except Amarok is too cumbersome to use to listen to an mp3 this way.
I mean who wants to wait for it to load, open the menu, scroll to the bottom? ...you get the point.
I wanted to just click on the mp3 attachment and hit "play."
Enter "mpg123" available as part of a package of mp3 tools named mpg321. All I did was edit the file properties of mp3s, added "mpg123" to the applications list and waa-laa - click and play.
I may eventually spend the time to make a desktop file so I can have a little icon next to the option, but for now this little down-n'-dirty trick does the job.
