Audio output volume is very low

I have installed kubuntu 24.04 on this Beelink Mini PC that I just bought:
    https://www.amazon.com/Beelink-Compu...1zcF9tdGY&th=1

Beelink Tech Support told me that the Audio chip is a Realtek ALC897.

I can get sound, but the volume is extremely low even when I raise the volume to 100%. I've read many posts on this topic (for various releases and different hardware) in the forum. I've tried both setting and unsetting the "Raise maximum volume" in Audio -> Volume Controls. I even asked ChatGPT thinking that it might spit out something regarding the combination of my OS environment and my particular audio chip.

I've tried pavucontrol, ALSA, alsamixer, and PulseAudio... although I'm not sure that what I did while 'playing' with these was the right thing.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. It seems that audio is now the only real issue I have, the only obstacle to my completion of my new sweet kubuntu desktop environment.

I found this page with instructions for installing PipeWire on Ubuntu systems.
    https://gist.github.com/the-spyke/2d...ent_id=3976215

    But it refers to 22.04.

Go to Konsole and type alsamixer. Change the volume there. Choose the option ( it can be master, PCM, Front Channel....) for your sound card and raise the volume there.

      This is mine :

Pipewire is already installed by default in 24.04 version. Go to the settings> audio and look for pro audio. It use to sound a little better and louder.

I'm running Kubuntu 24.04 on a lower model of the Beelink Mini PC and I don't have any issues with the volume. On a side note, did you try booting from a live USB device and trying the volume output there?

I am wondering if the problem is the headphone plug. These are old headphones, about 15 years old. Although stereo plugs look similar, they are not. I believe there are 3 types: 2.5mm, 3.5mm, 6.35mm.... I'm going to send an email to Beelink tech support and confirm the jack connector type.

Clearly the problem is not the headphones not functioning as they work in my laptop which is about the same era; the laptop is about 9 years old.
