What happened to Medibuntu?

Where are we supposed to get all the stuff we counted on Medibuntu to provide for so many years?

The only file you need is the libdvdcss file. The NAV4 and other files are in the repository.
From the VideoLan page:

Get libdvdcss

Last version of libdvdcss is 1.2.13.
Our Debian/Ubuntu repository can be accessed by adding the following content to /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/debian/stable/ /
deb-src http://download.videolan.org/pub/debian/stable/ /
And by running
wget -O - http://download.videolan.org/pub/deb...n-apt.asc|sudo apt-key add -
libdvdcss is available through Git or by browsing the releases.
Git checkout

Yes. I can see that Medibuntu has outlived its usefulness, but it sure was a much needed resource for many years.

Yep. Libdvdcss2 is now in the repositories. I assume it will be automatically installed with kubuntu-resticted-extras but I have not checked that yet.

It's in the videolan repository. Rog132 is showing it in archive.kubuntu.co.uk (not (?) an official 'ubuntu' repository). I added the videolan repository as previously posted, and that is where I show the installed package is managed/maintained from.

Found this out yesterday when I tried to update and couldn't reach the medibuntu repo.

I guess it's progress really, that libdvdcss2 is all that was still needed in the repo.

More alternatives

An alternative is to use the Debian packages - Before the Medibuntu some Ubuntu users did use the Debian Multimedia archive. Now it is called deb-multimedia /1,2/

The libdvdcss2 from the http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ can be downloaded and installed to the Kubuntu...
