Switching ALSA and JACK without re-login

Using Kubuntu 12.10, right after login the first audio application will lock the usage of either JACK or ALSA. e.g. if Amarok plays a file first, then I won't be able to start any application requiring JACK (Rakarrack, QJackCtl, etc.), likewise, if Rakarrack starts first, then Amarok won't be able to play any file. In order to switch, I currently have to logout then login again. It's somewhat annoying and inefficient. I have tried connecting ALSA and JACK a couple of times using information from these pages:
    http://alsa.opensrc.org/Jack_(plugin)
    http://jackaudio.org/routing_alsa
    http://alsa.opensrc.org/Jack_and_Loo...to-Jack_bridge
but none worked. Even one time I lost my whole audio! Is there any way to do what I want?

Are you not using pulseaudio? that should be the first thing to grab the audio, then anything that normally plays through alsa should play through pulseaudio.

No, I've uninstalled everything related to it. Anyway, I found a fix: install gstreamer bad plugins then change phonon device to JACK. Now ALSA and JACK play together nicely
