Audio recording problem with Matlab/Simulink under Kubuntu 9.04

    Hi

I'm using Matlab/simulink to send out (trough my speakers) a sine wave of 400 Hz over an acoustic channel (the path between my speaker and MIC) and then record it with my microphone. The purpose is to play the sinus trough my loudspeaker and recording it AT THE SAME TIME with my microphone. This all goes well but when I then plot the recorded signal in MATLAB I get alternating zero - sine wave - zero - sine wave - zero - and so on... See figure. This while I expect a continuous (noisy) sine wave without returning to zero.

Has anybody an idea what could be the problem/solution. In windows it all works well but thats not an acceptable solution for me...
(I'm working on 1 pc with 1 sound card)

See figures for simulink setup and plot of recorded signal.

    Thanks

And then the plot of the recorded signal.

Couple of questions for you. What is your sample rate? And why not just output your sine way directly to a plot window?
Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals ... except the weasel.

I've tried different sample rates: 8000, 16000, 44100 Hz. I want to model the acoustic channel between my speaker and microphone. Thats why I'm trying to record the sine wave. It's just a test...

have you found the best simulink model for this problem?
