white squares instead of fonts running elisa media center

Hi,
i just installed elisa media center,apparently, everything works fine except for the fonts...
i have big white squares instead of readable fonts!
I m using an Nvidia 6500 graphic card with proprietary driver installed.

Just a guess, (I don't use Elisa). Have you installed the "suggested" and "recommended" packages that Elisa depends on? The terms "suggested" and "recommended" are somewhat stronger than you might suppose. "Recommends" means program will not work "without a serious limitation in its functionality". "Suggests" means a program might work, but you won't like the result. The example given in "The Debian System" by Krafft is running the X-server without any fonts installed (not that this specifically applies to your problem).
