I'm adding a little more that may help. I'm not going for the full blown Blue Kubuntu colors. Don't get me wrong. I've always liked that color scheme. I just feel that it is getting dated. So I'm working with my last and adding a blue glow (one of the Kubuntu blue) around it. So far I think it looks great! IMHO. I also have one that is bluish in color but more on the lines of a glassy look.

Critique. The concept - using the blue - is nice. But, its placement contradicts the drop shadow, so makes it look out of place with the overall image. Suggestion: use another layer, and create another drop shadow, offset a bit more than the black, and use the blue color. This will give the black drop shadow a 'tinge' of blue. I think that might look fantastic.

Anyway @ Snowhog....I thought the same, but the method I used to even get that glow is limited @ the moment. I might make the original shadow the "glow" as well. Still working on it. Appreciate the feedback. It helps make the process go faster than looking @ it myself over a month or so.

I don't know if you can tell, but it did offset a "shadow" of the "glow" and more in line with you last critique. I kind of like that last one, so I may stick with it a while to see how it "works" for me.
