Have a section for tutorials. Eg, how to make X software or hardware work.

        They have it, in Documentation>How-To's.

You might have missed it because you though it was in some foreign language... Click image for larger version

I think they should tweak vBulletin to not disable smilies by default when using the advanced mode editor :·)

I tried some time ago, to 'fix' that issue; even made inquiries. I never found or got a proper solution. Oh well.

We are going to be moving over to vBulletin 5 'soon' (Open Source has already purchased the license for it), so maybe issues like that 'might' not be a problem.

Oh well. You can imagine it's not important, just a thought.

Don't we already have 6793.67 sections here already ??

The above kinda highlights how bloated we are, in terms of sections and sub-sections.

Personally, I don't think the gaming section is overly useful, particularly as there is nothing specific to Kubuntu that is relevant to this topic, outside of general chit chat.
There are only ~183 posts in the gaming section, going back to 2007, when there were vastly more user activity, and a much more slim forum layout.

On the topic of general chit chat, I am reminded that I have been gaming on Linux for so long that I have never played Half Life, or anything via Steam for that matter, on a Windows system.
I think the last ones I played there were System Shock 2 and Grim Fandango.

Currently playing Metro Exodus and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Well, those stats don't really support a game section. Claydoh, are you using Lutris? I recently finally got Doom and Divinity Original Sin 2 to work for me but it was a bit of a chore. I also don't use Steam and I think that's half the problem I have.

An alternative to the old text smilies is to use the Unicode characters. One can make them a little bigger with the size tags, but there's no animated ones (I really like our nana, rofl and banghead). Here's a cheat sheet I copy and paste from:

The only Windows game I still play is Command & Conquer Generals. Works fine with Wine.

Don, why don't you see if you can get Wolfenstein Youngblood up and running and let me know how you did it. Please see this chat https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2927 as I have one of the effected CPUs. I don't use proton or steam. My MB manufacturer put out a fix in late October and a new BIOS in late November and December, which I have installed, to help with the problem but my attempts to install kernel version 5.4 have been unsuccessful.

I mainly run Steam, but usually games ported to or supporting Linux. Metro Exodus I use Lutris and a bunch of trial and error finding the best combo of settings and Wine variants.

if it's not to much trouble , did you use an install script and which runner?
