    Server issues ?

    http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2015/01/10...tu.html#t15:41
brandon_lnx Hello, are any admins of the Kubuntu forums here? Trying to get in touch with them, as I can't register nor contact them on their site. Their server is having a captcha problem for the past few days. 15:41
    brandon_lnx I can't register for the kubuntu forums, that's the problem. 15:44
brandon_lnx So I can't post there, if I can't register there. It's the forums linked on kubuntu's own page. 15:44
brandon_lnx "Image verification could not be verified due to server issues. Please try again later." 15:44
brandon_lnx I can't even attempt to just do a contact us there either, because it's the same error. It's been like this, and I'm not sure the admins are aware since their server upgrade, that the captcha process is actually broken. 15:45

We'll look in to this. Thanks Rog.

All 'looks' fine with our reCaptcha settings/configurations. I'm going to guess, that the "issue" is with the reCaptcha API and PHP 5.5.9. SteveRiley can look into that.

In the mean time, I've disabled reCaptcha. We are very well protected with ZB Block, so we may not even need to use reCaptcha anymore. I'll be monitoring the registrations just in case.

    Update:

Updated the Human Verification Manager which includes New reCAPTCHATM

I think everything should be okay now.

    Update2:

No, things are not fixed. Still get:
The following errors occurred during your registration

    • reCAPTCHA™ could not be verified due to server issues. Please try again later.

Have disabled Human Verification -- again.

May or may not be related, but at my second job, I have to regularly enter a recaptcha popup when logged in. Lately it has been having an error. As it is in a popup, the error stays there and I just close the window and move on. I'll have to look at the error message when I get home from my first job, I wonder if it is something on their end, possibly?

I would want to think so; problem on their end; but others over in the vbulletin forum say they aren't having any issues with the new reCAPTCHA when they use it. That would imply it's NOT on their end.

Of course I cannot get an error message tonight, lol
I didn't poke my interest, as it is used as a keep-alive or something, and not involved with anything security-related per se. I would get the error, close the popup, and go back to work..

Worth a shot, I guess. Timing of both is what made me think of it, as they were about the same time.

A couple days ago I enabled PHP's opcode cache. Thinking that might have been the cause of the problem, just now I disabled it to test. The reCAPTCHA error persists. So that's not the cause.

Paul, did you generate new site and secret keys after the move? Perhaps that's necessary.

No, but I don't think that's necessary, but I can look into that.

Okay, new keys generated and entered into Human Verification. I've enabled Human Verification using New reCAPTCHA. Do you want to give it a try?

                That did the trick.

Hang on -- looks like you enabled image verification rather than either of the reCAPTCHA options.

Forum folks... we're still diagnosing the problem.
