Why are you forced to register in order to search threads??

It's just how we have it set up. Guests (or members who are not logged in) can't search the forums.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

It's a fairly common setting on forums, the primary purpose of forums is to serve members. It also helps in preventing search abuse with excessive searches which cause server load.

If you don't wish to register, most search engines (google, for example) allow you to search by site.

Using google or duckduckgo.com in most of the time will give me better information.

        Use key words like these

site:kubuntuforums.net "Kubuntu additional drivers" +Nvidia +wireless -Microsoft -Windows

site: will give you only the address you type

"Quotes" will search what exactly you type

+ will make sure that word is there

        - (minus sign) will omit that word

        and in Duckduckgo.com
use s:d this will search by date.

And, I think that the only part that is not searchable by outside engines is the "off topic" thread, although I may be wrong.
