My presence on the website is tiimed out too frequently.

Maybe I am not getting the new forum system, however, every time I enter the site, I login. Nonetheless, if I reply to a post or create a new post, before I can get the work done, I am told I must login to make any changes.

I don't understand why I do not remain logged in until I decide to leave. Or, is there something amiss with my computer?

I don't remember the previous Kubuntu forum working in this manner, so I am not sure it is changed procedure or perhaps a flaw in my computer.

I would like to confirm the fact that each time I enter the forum I log in. How do I get timed out? I read other posts to learn, and help where I am able, so I suspect I will never be in the forum when I do not have to login numerous times. This seems very inefficient.

Could someone please straighten me out? Thanks!

The Forums 'inactivity timeout' is set to 15 minutes. If it's taking you longer than that to compose and post a reply or new thread, you will be 'timed out' and have to log back in.

Not a solution, but you might want to try an alternate browser. At some point Firefox (or more likely an addon) decided it would not automatically log me in to KFN, and I would also get logged out repeatedly. Tried disabling some addons and playing with FF settings. Got bored with that and now use Qupzilla to read KFN and never have a problem.

Having had this happen to me on numerous (vbulletin and other) boards, what I often do now is open one tab viewing my subscribed threads and set it to auto-refresh every 10 minutes (anything less than 15 minutes), and read & reply to threads in new tabs. This auto-refresh capability may be a feature of the "Tab Mix Plus" firefox extension.

But even without this you should be able to avoid having to log in again if you tick the "remember me" or whatever box on the login page, and your browser is accepting cookies at least for the session.
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

I think this is the way vBulletin works, based on my observations of multiple such sites. When you select "remember me," each request from the browser to the site results in the site sending a refreshed cookie to the browser. Without selecting "remember me," the original cookie is never updated, and thus expires.

            I believe that is correct.
