Here's hoping it supports the best unit of measurement ever - the Beard-Second!

(The length an average beard grows in one second; approx 5 to 10 nanometres)

Also a currency converter? With the Euro going down day after day after day?

And then there's shillings, and florins, and guineas.

And rods and poles and furlongs.

In South Africa some title deeds refer to morgens - probably from Dutch - the area that one ox can plough in one morning.

kfn should immediately be upgraded to support all these units of measure.

"Fortnight" is a good one for drawing blank looks too

What really tickles me is that apparently BTUs (British Thermal Units) are still used in America, while here in the UK we switched over to KiloJoules long ago.

Yes, and exactly because of this (welcome) diversities many Forums are conceived that at least the time-system can be choosen by the users. I am on at least 15 forums and all but this one I have my 24 hours.

I will cling onto my pints of beer with a passion.

Young people here are taught metric for everything except road distance which is always miles. Older people will still happily talk of and think in pounds and ounces (and stones, which flummoxes Americans) and Fahrenheit.

In the UK "24h" was standard for timetables and computers when I lived there in the 80's. It is only the US that insists on am and pm, though I wonder about the rest of North America.

Brits are happy with kilos and metres and litres. (I once asked a young lady "Is your desk more than 6 feet from the wall?" and got a blank look, "How far is that?" she asked, "2 metres", I said, "Ah, yes it is"). It is only miles, pounds and ounces for a newborn's weight, and pints for beer that they cling to.

Don't get me started on the US braindead mm/dd/yy...

    Hello
Thanks a lot for your lead to that. I have found the Settings some while ago, but not the switch from am/pm to 24 hours, hence my request. As I see with pleasure, there are more users who would like this possibility (I think outside the UK and the US, the 24h system is standard, hence in the majority of the world). Even our US and British friends will eventually learn the advantage of the 24 hour and the decimal systems, as well as the Brits learned that a decimal system has many advantages (16,5% of 100 kilometers is computed in a fraction of a second, but 16,5% of one Mile not at all. First one has to establish which mile is meant (British, US, sea) and then to calculate the result one needs a very potent computer.

    Note:
    British mile: 1.609,3426 km
    US mile: 1.609,3472 km
    Nautical mile: 1.852 km
    old Scottish mile: 2.622 km
    etc

Wiki lists one Kilometer and about 100 oder mile lenght, however only the first three are used practically.

I asked the Forum Administrators to investigate this possibility and would ask each supporter to add their support in this thread. Thanks a lot.

    Hi,

I have the same "problem", I like having 24hrs format displayed.
@oshunluvr: So I followed your instructions but couldn't find the option switch from AM/PM to 24H display. Could this be (I could be wrong here) a "limitation" of the forums engine or something?

    Thanks for the help

User configurable Date and Time option

    Hi
Sorry to write here, but I have not found a container to put questions concerning the running of this forum.

I am living in a world of 24 hours and not of am and pm. In practically all other forums I participate, I can set up my time preferences. Up to now, I did not find such a faclility here. Can someone help?
Working...
