Functionality change: improved unread tracking and "What's New"

If you recall, the old KFN kept track of which threads and posts you read. This was tracked by the forum's database software.

vBulletin's default behavior is different: it follows the expiration of your cookie. You could visit the home page but read no posts, go away until your cookie expired, and then return -- and your previously unread posts would no longer be unread.

I've enabled the database read tracking feature this evening. Now your thread/post read tracking should work much better. This change also enables some additional functionality.

    (1) Next to a thread you'll see a small blue arrow, like this:

Name:	go-to-unread.png
Views:	1
Size:	2.3 KB
ID:	647698

Clicking that will take you to the first unread post in the thread.

    (2) The "What's New" button groups posts into two sections. The first section lists new threads and threads with new posts since your last visit. The second section lists posts that haven't changed since your last visit but still contain unread posts.

I thought something had happened! Thanks, this is already better.
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.
