It always weirds me out when I see another web site promoting open source software using a closed source BB.. It makes me feel like people are unwilling to eat their own dogfood. I mean do the owners of this site believe in open source software?

And does it feel equally weird when a proprietary software vendor runs their website on linux servers? Don't they believe in closed source software?

        Fine point, kubicle

@deathguppie: I challenge you to find anyone, except possibly Richard M Stallman, who "believes in open source software" if that means never ever using non-free closed source software even when it meets your needs much better than the open source alternatives, and you don't have time and resources to write your own software (which is the real essence of open source: build it yourself).

        eta - reasonably priced non-free, I mean

Well, the vBulletin folks regard their product as view source -- you can see it, and it isn't compiled. But it wouldn't qualify for open source because it isn't governed by any GNU public license allowing free distribution.

We received a donated vB license and decided to use that. We've been wanting to move away from SMF and the Windows server it was running on for some time.
