    blog doesn't work well with rekonq

    Hi

    rekonq is the new web browser in kubuntu.
    However, I noticed as I was creating a new blog in kubuntuforums.net that the blog editor
    doesn't work well with rekonq:

    *selecting text and trying to add a html link doesn't work
    *view html doesn(t work
    * etc.

    Is there anything to do to make it work ?

    The forum uses "bulletin board code": http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...ge=post#bbcref

      ok, but I'm not talking about the forum, but about the blog.

      The blog works in html and has a different editor.

      It works ok with firefox but not rekonq

        OH, sorry! Hey I just read your blog about installing 10.10. Nice job!

        I dunno about rekonq -- to be honest, I like chromium-browser and it likes me, so ..... :P

          The Blog feature of KFN - MKPBlog - is powered by MKPortal. MKPBlog isn't the easiest to use, and as I just created a blog of my own to 'test' how doing so using rekonq works, I agree, the editing 'features' don't work as they should. I don't think most work at all. I'll pop in using Konqueror in Lucid and see how it fares there.

          rekonq is still being developed. It isn't finished yet, and features still need to be fleshed out and others incorporated. In time, rekonq will likely be a very good replacement to Konqueror. But that's why I have Firefox here in Maverick, to use when rekonq doesn't do what one expects or needs. Choices and Linux. Who can't love that?

          Just accessed my Blog running Firefox. Editing works as one would expect. The editing features work. But then, I expected as much.

            I accessed it from chromium-browser and played a bit. Emoticons didn't work correctly. Basic text editing seemed to work right.

                Re: blog doesn't work well with rekonq

                to add to that, mkportal is a long dead project now, so there isn't much chance of 'fixing' this. It looks like it's (now really really old) wysiwyg editor version (tinyMCE) is what doesn't have good support for webkit/rekonq/Konq. Probably the popups being requested are an issue. I can't get it to work in Konq either

                I say kill it, if there weren't a few users using it. A planet feature would be nicer, if we ever move to the next version of smf(when it ever becomes final) or a different platform altogether

                  it seems to be popup related indeed.

                  for instance, if you select a text and click on the 'add link' button

                  * firefox opens a popup (requesting for link address, etc.)

                  * rekonq does nothing.

                  If you instead click 'add name ref' (something like this)

                  * firefox opens a popup

                  * rekonq opens a new tab ! (but you can't use it)

                  This being said, it is true that the interface feels quite outdated, but I'm the guy who still uses xfig, so...

                    Yeah, once we move to SMF 2.0, I was planning on using a different front end product since mkportal is dead. Suggestions are welcome.

                          Nothing, just wondering if we need a frontend or not, for discussion purposes.

                            I've said/suggested it before, that we give serious consideration to not having a Blog section. What we have has been used sporadically, and when used, almost never maintained. The value of KFN is the forum boards, not Blogs.

                            To that, I also don't see a real need for the other 'add-on's that KFN has - Downloads, News, TopSite, Review, and Calendar.
