As the title says, there's no place to post suggestions on kubuntu itself and what would you like to be improved. I think ubuntu distros (especially kubuntu) would benefit a lot from feedback.
I also think the forum should be changed a bit to make it easier for new people (like me) as well as linux (me again). I'm not talking about something huge, just simple tiny things in life, so, i'll put some examples about kubuntu.
Examples:
- I installed compiz the other day and it didn't work (don't know why), and i think many peolpe use compiz, so why not have it installed with the default kubuntu installation and give the chance to disable it on your first after installation boot (something like a pop-up).
- Why don't have a wellcome to kubuntu tour (like windows).
- Even though i have an application in the toolbar that shows me everithing i need about my remobable media (and it's quite good), I still would like to have a MyComputer on the desktop, so why not just put it and let people who don't want it to delete it.
So, as i said, simple changes can help bring more people on using ubuntu distros (especially people who use windows and would like to change to linux but find it difficult to adapt because of little rather stupid diferences, like me).
Another sugestion that has nothing to do with the initiall subject and that i will mention again as soon as we have the kubuntu suggestions area is, why not make the boot menu (the grub i think it was) a little more user frindly and enable people to configure it's order easily (i've found the bios to be easier than the boot selection menu). I think openSUSE's one is nice, but you can do whatever you like as longer as it becomes really easy (graphics don't matter really much).
I'll say it again, linux won't impress users as much with a boot time of 10 sec. as it will with some beginner friendly stuff and a little bit less errors (not that i've found many).
Ubuntu just rocks, it configured all of my devices at once, i coul use wifi from the very beginning and KDE just kicks windows graphical interface ass, so, I don't see any other reasons for not using it rather than the few things i mentioned above and the fact that windows is familiar to everyone.
I apologize for writing so many lines that don't have anithing to do with the subject, but i needed to write that down. I also apologize for my english beeing not so good, but it's been a while since i wrote things in english (my mother language is spanish).
Looking forward to see ubuntu really user friendly and installed on everyones PC (without having much errors or becoming windows).
Sincerely, Flame Soul
