Anyway, I'd still be interested whether we could create a kind of multi-user so one post can be edited by a number of folk. Suppose OS is too bogged down in pubs at the mo.

HAHA, very funny toad. I could simply create/rename a forum that would give everyone permission to post and edit anyone else's post. We could call it "Kubuntu Wiki" or "KFN Wiki" or "Wiki" or something like that. Let me know what you think.

Anyway, dibl's point is a good one - which is why I reckon a select few only should have the right to edit it. I haven't seen an unreasonable soul here yet, but that doesn't mean a thing (you should see me without my morning coffee - I'm an instant human, just add coffee).

Other than that I reckon the benefits are sufficient to give it a go. We could even have a dry run, keep it up for a month without it being available to the public. If it/we survive it may do some good. If not scrap it and blame croaky old toad.

I may be going to the pub tonight, but if not, I will try to update the front page portal (mkportal) and maybe I can install some wiki software at something like wiki.kubuntuforums.net. Otherwise we can keep it simple and I can create a hidden forum with a select number of people with access. Please reply here if you would like to be involved in building this "Wiki type site" and I can give you access. As a simple and arbitrary rule of thumb I will only be giving access to those users who request access and have over 100 posts (don't want spammers).

The blog might be better.

The wiki seems fragile, in my mind, only because it is subject to being completely wiped out by one bad actor having a temper tantrum. Although it's been very rare, we've seen a couple of cases of individuals who probably would have done that, given an opportunity. But they didn't have 100 posts, either -- so maybe it would work.

I don't know nuffink about blogs and wouldn't know where to start... All I only know is that I never read 'em. However, with dibl's expert advice I'm sure even I could learn.

Being a conservative kind of bloke (call me old) I'd still vote for a wiki and to pre-empt dibl's wipe-out concerns how about upping the anti to 500 posts (anything below 1500 really so I can contribute as well ).

Having said that - if a blog serves the intended purpose and is easier to arrange that a blog be it. I don't care how it is achieved, I just want the benefits.
