Ahem,
here is why I think we would all benefit from a wiki:
1. we could pool our expertise more efficiently and learn along the way
2. frequently asked questions can be referred to the wiki
3. a wiki serves to establish common ground and raises linux literacy of the entire community
I know there is downsides as well in that it needs to be hosted, organised and above all maintained. I still reckon that it is a damn fine feature if we could get our heads round it.
I've seen very few good wikis and an awful lot of bad ones out there so the challenge is humongous - but I reckon with the people (and the attitude that comes across) this could be very worthwhile indeed.
If Open Source - you host this forum, right? - says it is a no go then it clearly is a no go and all discussion ends there. But if it were possible...
