Most Time Online counter not working?

I've noticed that the Most Time Online statistics isn't working properly. It appears to be incrementing just the minutes only. This appears to have been going on for almost a week now.

Edit: Well, the 'hours' are incrementing, but last night it was at 23 before I shut down, and I've been on for over two hours this morning, and it is showing 22. Something isn't right.

Nope, the time reported on General Statistics | Most Time Online here on the Forum.

Edit: Okay, just checked, and the days updated. Hmm. I know that something was not working, but appears to be fixed now, as it had been reporting 71 days 22 hours xx minutes for me for last several days, even though I'm logged on more than nine hours daily.

I've noticed that myself. Those of you that have real high post numbers should also have high on line times. The don't reflect that at all. I would have expected Dibl's to be way high, but it isn't. Oh well.

High number of posts doesn't necessarily equate to high Online times. Dibl is a prolific poster, but has spent less total time online in the Forum. I'm close in number of posts, but I've spent more total time online in the Forum than he has.

Yeah, I would also point out that there is no particular correlation between number of posts and effectiveness of the help. I hope 20% of my posts have helped someone .....

I know that when I've asked for help/assistance, the advice/suggestions you've provided to me have been helpful. I'm sure that the majority of your posts, where suggestions have been provided, have helped more than 20% of those who posted.

No, there isn't a close correlation, but to me a person would still have to spend time to post that many and that time would have to reflect that with other high posters. To me that is .

Thanks guys. I'll never write a Linux application -- I'd be lucky to copy someone else's script without making mistakes. The least I can do to give back a little is to try to share my lessons with those who have even less of a clue than me.

Hey MoonRise, we are still close, I think MoonRise = -4 or close to that.
I notice that you jump in to help a wide variety of cases, and do so frequently, whereas I basically just do GRUB and partitioning and a few disk issues. How can we be so close on # posts? That would be a rhetorical question ...

I've picked up/learned a lot from the questions I've asked, and the answers I've received. And, I've also gotten useful info from the posts made by others, for which I've not been a contributor. That's the nice thing about this Forum. Whether you post or not, if you are observant, you can pick up knowledge that will help you with Linux/Kubuntu.

I think just a bit differently than most people I know. Analyzing and troubleshooting is something that I seem to have an inclination for. If any of the 'suggestions/observations' on a problem for which I've posted to have helped anyone, then I too am satisfied.

Unfortunately I can help in a wide range of issues while not really being an expert in any. You are, in my opinion, an expert at GRUB. I guess all of us together make one good help source. I hope!

                        # post = (time online + # post)/ x to the y * the infinite probability that we've all done this before !!!

                          MoonRise
                          Definition
Expert: someone what has practiced himself silly doing something.

The "something" can be narrow or broad (ever been to a medical specialist and noticed how un-expert they are at certain things--subfields--in their field of practice?).
They are experts only at what they have actually done. The verb "to do" is the key here, and its conjugation "have done." The implication being that I may be "expert" only at a subfield of GRUB, emphasis this time on the auxiliary verb "may" and on the unspecified noun "subfield."

                          Questions?

MoonRise, I'm glad that guys like you and dibl & et. al. field all that technical gibberish that comes up, that's for sure. I have a good excuse for being somewhat narrow, though: The darned Kubuntu's “just work” for me on my system (Intel 915GAVL, Intel 530J 3 GHz, Crucial 1 GB RAM, several Seagate HDDs). No problems. And if you don't have any problems, how the hell are you supposed to learn anything new? Remember, emphasis on the verb “to do” and “have done” ... (see above) ...
... and it's on my TODO list to learn more by breaking my system in various ways, then fixing it ... since it won't break by its darn self ... I hope someday soon to get more play time to do just that ...
