    Re: Site really slow

Yes. The main page of the Forum (http://www.kubuntuforums.net/index.php) appears to be down. If you navigate to any other page, say http://www.kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php you can get in. When you then click on the >> in the upper-left and login, you will probably experience a hang - the process will appear not to finish. However, if you then navigate back to http://www.kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php (or any other page other than the main) and click on the >> again, you will find that you are logged in.

OS has been sent a message about the problem with the main page.

        Re: Site really slow

        Same problem:
        Friday (2 days ago, really bad bad bad; I lost a post or two and never quite knew if I was logged in, which issue was moot because I usually could not get in, not even to index.php);
Saturday (bad, but sporadic and not-so-bad)
Sunday (again today -- too early to score it though)
Taking a walk on the wild side...?

            Re: Site really slow

Thanks for the info. I was planning on moving to a new server a couple weekends ago, but could not because my company is moving to a new building and I have been working non-stop on the move. I will be trying to find time to move the site over in the near future.

              Re: Site really slow

Once again, accessing the main page of the Forum is 'un-responsive' while connecting to every other page/link works.

What is it about the main page .php code that causes this to occur? It's REALLY frustrating.

Anybody want to have a look at the main page code to see. I have been swamped at work these past 4 weeks.

                  Thanks,

                    Re: Site really slow

I feel your pain. Trust me I do!! Any way, it seems to be fine for me since the last time I posted here. I wonder if it could just be different segments of the net, not just this site. I would think that if it was this site, more people would experience that problem at the same time. Unless it is a "load" issue.

                      Re: Site really slow

I'd have to agree that it may not be this Forum's host site. But it is interesting, that when the unresponsiveness presents itself, it (appears) to only be with the main page of the Forum. Hmmm.

Right after I posted (today), the unresponsiveness 'disappeared' and all is as it should be.

                        Re: Site really slow

When it happens to me (ISP = Earthlink DSL), I quickly test a full spectrum of other sites, and it is only the Kubuntu site where I have a problem; it is almost always the front page, but it has also been the main index page, too.

That's very interesting... That would defiantly cause a slow down. I also took note that it was an AT&T server as well, and since I've been having other issues related to that I wonder why kubuntuforums.net is being "managed". This site couldn't possibly have that much traffic!! I also wonder if it goes back to the DNS Black Listing I found on my other issue?

Definitely something that OS (if/when he has the time) might want to check into.
