I'm old and not as technically astute as some. I am however utterly committed to linux, and Kubuntu in particular. My last Windows machine was retired more than a year ago when I found X-Plane to replace Flight Simulator and haven't missed Windows or FS at all.
There is some Windows type software that I would like to use however, or find a suitable substitute for. I am wondering if anyone else has been able to find ways to either run or substitute for the following.
Poser 8 - I'm writing a book and would like to illustrate it. Unfortunately I am talentless and Poser seems to have sufficient point and click stuff so that an incompetent bum might do well. Substitutes?
Alpha 5 - This is a quick to use easy to use database. A moron can use this one.
Anything that can read (or convert) a MS Publisher file. I can use Scribis for new stuff.
What good Publishing or book writing software exists for Linux? Note - I wrote a 260 page novel in Open Office, but sometimes an actually Publisher software is better.
And yes, I'm willing to pay for useful software.
