    Kubuntu 9.04 CD vs. DVD

Okay...i know this topic is like already redundant for like almost 5 different post.... but I cannot understand what the difference between the "cd that you get from shipit or burned yourself" and the "dvd that you buy on amazon or burned yourself".... the rest of the 4 gb just seem to escape my knowledge of what could possibly be contained in there i would/would not need to use and know about... is there a precise list of different packages for the dvd......? recently bought a Thinkpad with vista basic (yeah you read it right) and thinking of ditching it..... I already pre-order for a 9.04 cd on shipit but was wondering is it worth it to buy the dvd from amazon or canonical shop...(it doesn't seem to be released yet..but i can wait..). I don't have a FAST internet nor a dvd burner, and I admit i am a fan of having potentially useless packages consolidated into the installation and pretty publication so I would prefer to have it through the market...(a few bucks won't hurt?) So What is included in the dvd that's not in the cd?

What's the difference between the Ubuntu CD and DVD?
I'm not 100% certain, but the last I'd heard, the CD usually contains only one version of Ubuntu (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu) and is either the Desktop CD, the Alternate CD, or the Server CD. The DVD contains the entire Main and Restricted repositories (read more about Main and Restricted here), which means it has Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Edubuntu, allowing you to install any or all four versions without needing an internet connection.

    DVD downloads

Don't be confused, even though DVDs can hold far more data than the typical Ubuntu CD, the main benefit of the DVD downloads is to get access to all of the available language packs. Most people will be fine with the standard CD installer. There are fewer download locations for the DVD images and this list is updated less frequently than for the CD images.

The DVD download page should have a list of the packages on the DVD (file listing). An example, 8.04.1/i386 > ubuntu-8.04.1-dvd-i386.list
