    Re: apt-get source code

(K)Ubuntu is based on Debian, and APT is a Debian package.

      Re: apt-get source code

      you are right, penguin.ch, but....

debian needs STABLE, TESTING, UNSTABLE packets

k-ubuntu need MAIN, MULTIVERSE, RESTRICTED, UNIVERSE packets

so apt-get necessary needs to be personalized to manage the one or the other. i look inside debian version and i would like to do that also in ubuntu one

      and non only in apt-get

... which for starters has nothing to do with source code "customization" but with the list of repositories to be accessed. - You may take a look at the APT manual to get the basic concepts of Debian package management sorted out first.

          dear penguin

i take a look on apt-get.cc file in apt_0.5.28.6.tar.gz archive and i didn't find anything about diversity between debian and ubuntu
but looking at apt-cdrom.cc file (same archive) there are a lot of things that make me tell you probably you are wrong. take a look from row 181. it refers to debian structure, not ubuntu one

in any case, do you know if ubuntu staff let their source codes (all of them) availlable?

          thanks
