    Partitioning/Formatting An External Hard Drive

I recently purchased an external hard drive, and I would like to create a partition and format the partition with ext3. I am running Kubuntu 6.10. Please advise me as to what the best solution would be; and how to accomplish it. Thanks.

Make GParted your friend (sudo apt-get install gparted, if applicable; further reading)
