I got my bottom panel transparent, but is there a way to do the same to the K Menu and windows?

If you have a video card with 3D hardware acceleration, try Beryl.

It was easy enough for me to install and it has some very nice effects.
I put Beryl on my old-as-dirt machine with a nVidia video card and it doesn't slow my machine down a bit. (running Edgy)
