    Kubuntu packages

There is a web page to get Ubuntu packages: (http://packages.ubuntu.com/). Is there a place to get Kubuntu packages? Because I not able to install Ubuntu packages onto Kubuntu for some reason.

    Re: Kubuntu packages

I guess they are Debian packages and by default are not compatable with Kubuntu. Is it possible to install Debian on Kubuntu?

Then there is something wrong, kubuntu uses the same basic repos as ubuntu. Did you try to download .deb packages from http://packages.ubuntu.com/? If you did, you might have picked a package that isn't compatible with your version...you don't have to worry about that if you use a package manager (like Adept) to install software.

      More information here:
      https://help.ubuntu.com/6.06/kubuntu...lications.html
This page is for dapper, but the instructions should be valid even if you use edgy, though if you use edgy and want to start adept from konsole, use 'kdesu adept_manager' instead of 'kdesu adept'

There is a semi-official kubuntu.org repository that has latest versions of some packages used in kubuntu (namely kde, koffice, and amarok), more information how to add these repositories (if you wish to) can be found in here, for example:
      http://kubuntu.org/announcements/koffice-16.php
(these instructions are for the latest koffice, note you only need to add one of the repository mirrors to your sources.list)

(k)ubuntu is debian based, so debian packages may work, but it's not recommended to add vanilla debian repositories to your sources. Some packages may be incompatible and may lead to upgrading problems/conflicts in the future.
