Help with editing wvdial.conf

Hey all,I am new to Kubuntu.
It looks excellent, can wait to get online with it and surf.

I just created the /etc/wvdial.conf file but I cannot edit the file to add my Dialup Information.
I keep getting permission denied.
How can I edit this file and save it.
I am running Kubuntu 5.10 Live.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section, just noticed this is for 5.04.

I created a new user and logged back in with the live cd and was able to edit the file.
I am sure there is an easier way to edit this file as the default Live user?
If someone has any tips on how to do this it would be much appreciated.

In kubuntu, no one allowed to edit system files except root. open shell and type sudo vi /etc/wvdial.conf, type your password when prompted. you should be able to edit and save it.

I gave it a try.
Using "sudo vi" I am able to open the wvdial.conf file and view the contents and I can make changes to the text.
I just have one more question, how do I save the changes?
When I close the session the file reverts back to the original and no cahnges are saved.

When vi open the file it is in the view mode (I don't remember properly whatever it called exactly), press insert to switch into editing mode, once you finish editing, press esc then type : then type wq (w for write and q for quite)and press enter. For more information read the man pages of vi, type man vi

...maybe vi editor is too old fashioned for your suit
try
sudo kate /etc/wvdial.conf

it may be but I like vi rather than kate or anything else. supposed you are troubleshooting your system with no X interface ? you can't use kate

I'm a vi user of course
but for some teach instruction maybe is better to say to use kate or kedit or scite (best simple editor), just in case because an user can be in a little bit trouble to use vi
...if u are not in X env, you're right, vi must be used...
