Hi
This is maybe not as far fetched as it might seem.
The college uses Microsludge stuff exclusively and the new "coordinator of whatever in chief" has been put in charge of making a "running list" of things on the college calendar for the faculty which is a simple listing in a .pdf of all of the things on the "academic calendar"... this does not change during a semester unless something really big happens and there are calendars for at least the "next two semesters" each semester.
Well, the fellow really is trying to do a good job and offered the listing as a CSV file for folks to put on their computers at home or to put into their LMS system for their classes if they so desired.
So, to that end, a few semesters ago, when he first attempted to do this I tried to put it into Korganizer but it wants the ICAL, or ICS file format and won't take the other.
So, most folks involved with doing office type stuff and calendars etc. Know that there are online converters so I tried several and finally found one that produced the file that really was an "online" thing and not something that needed to run under WINE.
HOWEVER, there are...questions...about just "what" the converter "does" with the information in the conversion process and there is some discussion that it could be a data mining operation, I do not know...
BUT...apparently ...for people who actually can fiddle with the nuts and bolts of a Microsludge spreadsheet one can make a spreadsheet convert the dingus.
So...ok... the question then is...
How about... if Kubuntu repos actually had a downloadable "converter" for CVS to ICAL that one could install to do such.
There "may" be some kind of legality problem with Microsludge and I don't know... or not...
But, considering the sheer quantity of threads on the net asking about how to do this it would seem that it is an ongoing problem for ... "a lot" of people...
So, any comments?
