It's been sorely lacking and my laptop's really quite good speakers have been sounding like one of those really cheap 1970s transistor radios; if you are in a certain age group, you'll know the ones I mean. The equalisers that are in some applications don't really do much. It's a laptop so it's never going to sound like a high end stereo, but at least I can stand to listen to my music now.
It's called Pulse Audio Equaliser and just in case I'm not the only one who had never heard of it:
