    Oh how I miss

I run Kubuntu in VM's (Oracle VirtualBox) on my iMac. I have 16.04 Xenial, 16.04 KDE neon, 14.04 Trusty, and 12.04 Precise. The pure speed at which 14.04 and 12.04 boot up and shut down is something I really miss in 16.04. The time it takes to see the Login Greeter screen in 14.04 and 12.04 is literally a matter of about 4 seconds; maybe 3 seconds. From the Login Greeter screen to a fully ready Desktop is again, a matter of 3 to 4 seconds. Shutting down from the Desktop; selecting Shutdown to when the VM actually closes; is about 3 seconds or less!!

Oh how I wish these same speeds were present in Plasma.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Running on real iron, I don't find the start up time of 14.04 to be particularly bad compared to other Linux systems; excepting those that are specifically designed to be lightweight. As for 16.04, it starts in seconds but that machine has an (old) ssd.
