I'd like to take a pool on what is the best anti-virus software for linux, also firewall software. There is so many out there it is hard to choose.
Thanks Scott
You're telling me you got a Linux virus from an email? Or you're saying you picked up a Windows virus in an email? If you didn't have anti-virus installed, how do you know it was a virus or that you got one? What were the symptoms? What files did it affect?
There are programs that detect Windows viruses so that you can protect Windows-using family members and friends by not passing them on.
I found 3 virus when I did a virus scan on a different linux OS. The effect was to get me blacklisted from receiving forwarded mail from my web-site. To date I haven't not be able to get off the blacklist. I'm now running XP in vmware so I'm going to put one in Kubuntu. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I've run for many years without it in linux with no problem until a couple of weeks ago, it's a real pain.
