    Compiling foo2srj driver

I have an HP Laserjet 1018 for which Dapper does not provide a driver at present.

I have down loaded the foo2srj source code and am attempting to compile it.

It is a long time since I compiled anything and never on kubuntu releases.

I have followed the instructions which come with it but when I attempt to 'make' I get the response 'command not found'

What do I need to do?

    Thanks

I think you want the "foo2zjs" package, which is in the Ubuntu repositories. See this page at LinuxPrinting.org You will have to update the printer firmware with the instructions given at LP.o, if you have a problem, someone here can probably help you.

What do I need to do?
If you feel impelled to do things the hard way, Install the meta-package "build-essential" with apt-get, aptitude, synaptic, or adept. It contains most of the things that you need to install from source.

      Thankyou it does.

I followed the instructions given and the process is pretty straightforward and the 1018 is working perfectly.
