I'm just wondering how to go about getting a definitive answer on the issue of those pesky icons I mentioned in another thread. I'd like to know--FOR SURE--what it is that controls the icons we see in our panel. See, here's what happened...
I reinstalled K 14.04 a few days ago. That solved various issues I didn't feel like troubleshooting any more, including a missing network connection icon in my panel, and big ugly versions of other icons in my system tray. Then, yesterday, I was tweaking various things, like GTK2/3 settings, logged out, logged back in and my system tray icons had turned back into the BIG UGLY VERSIONS I had before reinstalling K. I want to know why. I've played around with themes and icons [in the file system, not just via settings] and can't figure out WHICH icons are being pulled in for things like volume, battery monitor, etc.
