Login Delay

Folks - I wonder whether you can help - this one's a little odd! When I log into my account, and fire up an application (usually Firefox - but not always), I get the usually bouncing icon, which eventually vanishes after 30 seconds. There is a pause of another 30 seconds before the application eventually fires up. In the meantime the Firefox icon vanishes from the task bar. I'm running 14.04 with 'Homerun'. After this, everything runs normally - I can kill off Firefox and relaunch without any delay. Similarly, Homerun doesn't seem very responsive to begin with, but after a while, becomes quite nippy!

check system settings -> startup / shutdow ->session management. under "on login" try start with empty session . should help speed up your login since you will no longer be trying to start all the programs that were open when you loged out.
