    Kubuntu and Canonical

Ok, I didn't know where else to post this so this looked like the best place.

Is Kubuntu now affiliated in any way with Canonical? I know the word Kubuntu is trademarked by Canonical and Kubuntu is Ubuntu with the KDE desktop, but other than those two items, how much say or control does Canonical have with the development of Kubuntu, if any? I've used Ubuntu for a while but I've grown to dislike Canonical and what it is turning its Linux distribution into.

For the most part none, other than the technical stuff relating to using their infrastructure, really.. All the "flavours" are community driven and managed.

There's been a lot of discussion about this around here, somewhere; in addition to related subjects (e.g., Blue Systems). I'll throw down some links, maybe they will be of interest to you.

And note the typo in his 3rd para., which should read:
There are NO plans to change [the Kubuntu name].
      See Reply #6:
Yes, I am sorry for that typo. There are NO plans to change. The Kubuntu store is something that I have a LOT of personal interest in.

Martin Gräßlin (graesslin), KWin developer has joined Blue Systems, a nice boost to Kubuntu and KDE. Here's his blog site:

And now Blue Systems has this page ...
