yahoo password box, a new security thing?

Just noticed this, and don't remember it from before:

When registering for Yahoo from in Kopete, the password box was not accessible until I checked the box for "remember password".

I could then enter the pasword.

I then unticked "remember the pasword" and again the box was not accessible but the password was in the box.

So, the question is; is this some new kind of "security" thing?

Perhaps Kopete would prompt for your password each time you connect? I'm just kind of guessing, as I don't use Kopete.
