[SOLVED] ZoneMinder not picking up USB Webcam

This has now been solved. After loads of testing on a virtual system I found this post to be the solution

I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 without any major issues apart from loads of updates lol.
I've finally managed to get ZoneMinder installed and almost working.
I've got a Logitech USB webcam that get seen by Cheese, Skype and YouTube online without any problems, but when I configure it for ZoneMinder I get a black screen. Looking the the log I can see the error message but don't quite know how to fix it.
Anyone on here that could help me?

Unfortunately I don't see any clues there. The line "Failed to set video format: " is probably the error, and the later messages just consequences of that.

You might need to ask at zoneminder-specific forums.

yeah, I know. That error message is doing my head in coz I've got the camera set to PAL.
I'm going to leave this thread open while I find an answer on ZoneMinder and once all is solved I'll post a solution lol
